The meeting was
called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairperson Del South.

#080930-01 – Approval
of the minutes of the July 7, 2008 Election Commission meeting.
Moved by Richard VanderKlok, seconded by Dale Mohr, to approve the minutes as presented.
MOTION CARRIED.
#080930-02 – Appoint Election Workers
Moved by Dale Mohr, seconded by Richard VanderKlok, to approve appointing election workers as presented for the November 4, 2008 Election.
MOTION CARRIED.
#080930-03 - Appoint Receiving Board Members
Moved by Dale Mohr, seconded by Richard VanderKlok, to approve appointing Receiving Board workers as presented for the November 4, 2008 Election

#080930-04 - Establish
an Absent Voter (AV) Counting Board for the November 4, 2008 Election
Moved by Dale Mohr, seconded by Richard VanderKlok, to approve establishing an Absent Voter (AV) Counting Board for the November 4, 2008 Election

#080930-05 - Pay
Rates
Moved by Del South, seconded by Dale Mohr, to approve leaving the pay for election workers at the current rate

#080930-06 - Election Commission Policy 2008-01 Reimbursement after Election
Moved by Dale Mohr, seconded by Richard VanderKlok, to recommend to the Township Board to approve Election Commission Policy 2008-01 regarding reimbursement to election workers after the election as follows:

Reimbursement to Election Workers after the Election
If election workers are called by the Ottawa County Clerk’s Office and are required to go to the County Clerk’s Office, the Township will pay as follows:
a. Mileage will be paid to all election workers who are called to the County Clerk’s Office and drive their own vehicle.
b. IF the reason they are called is NOT due to a mistake they made (as determined by the Township Clerk’s office), each worker who went to the County Clerk’s Office would be paid $25 in addition to all of the other money they earned for the election.
c. If the reason they are called IS due to a mistake they made, they would NOT get paid any additional money (other than mileage if they drove their vehicle).
d. If the election worker disagrees with the determination made by the Township Clerk’s office as to whether or not the mistake was theirs, the decision could be appealed to the Election Commission.

#080930-07 - Other Business
a. The pay rate has already been established by the Election Commission and the Township Board for the chairs, co-chairs and precinct workers and is not changing.
$ 25.00 per whole session for the “Hands-On” Training School (no mileage reimbursement);
$160.00 for election inspectors for Election Day;
$180.00 for co-chairman for Election Day;
$200.00 for chairman for Election Day;
$ 80.00 for each Receiving Board member (other than T employee) who attended Training Course
b. The Township Board established the Receiving Board and the pay rate. With Township Board motion #080414-07, the Township Board established Receiving Boards for all elections in 2008 and established the pay as $80 per each Receiving Board member (other than a Township employee).
