GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP ELECTION COMMISSION

MEETING MINUTES-Monday, April 13, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. by Chairperson Del South.

Roll Call

Present: Del South, chairman; Jim Wierenga and Richard VanderKlok, members;

Daniel Carlton, Township Manager; and Mannette Minier, Secretary and Director of Elections

Absent: none

#090413-01 – Approval of the minutes of the September 30, 2008 Election Commission meeting.

Moved by Richard VanderKlok, seconded by Del South, to approve the minutes as presented.

MOTION CARRIED.

#090413-02 – Appoint Election Workers

Moved by Richard VanderKlok, seconded by Jim Wierenga, to approve appointing election workers as presented for the May 5, 2009 Election.

MOTION CARRIED.

#090413-03 - Appoint Receiving Board Members

Moved by Richard VanderKlok, seconded by Jim Wierenga, to approve appointing Receiving Board workers as presented for the May 5, 2009 School Election.

MOTION CARRIED.

#090413-04 - Establish Receiving Boards

Moved by Del South, seconded by Richard VanderKlok, to recommend to the Township Board to approve establishing Receiving Boards for the May 5, 2009 School Election

MOTION CARRIED.

#090413-05 – Other Business

a. May 5, 2009 is a School Election and the schools pay for the election through Ottawa County. It is not necessary to act on the pay for the school election workers because Ottawa County has established the pay rate as $12.00 per hour for all workers and an additional $25 for the chairs. Chairs make an additional $25 if there are no mistakes in their canvass material.

b. The pay rate has already been established by the Township as $80 per each Receiving Board member (other than a Township employee).

c. There will not be an Absentee Counting Board for the School Election.

d. The Ottawa County Clerk’s office has indicated that they plan to process the invoices for the election as quickly as possible so that election inspectors would not have to wait a long period of time for their paychecks.
