Library Department Report

february 2006

Staffing

·         Marcia Keane joined the staff, filling the vacant Library Assistant I position.

·         Interviews for the Materials Processor positions were conducted.

Facility

·         We again experienced roof leaks during the month.

·         The coin-op failed again during the month. We managed to resurrect it (temporarily) with the assistance and ingenuity of a Library volunteer. It has been obvious for some time that the machine is operating on borrowed time, with replacement parts problematic to obtain and qualified and/or knowledgeable service personnel impossible to find. The photocopy machine experienced problems as well. Staff, with the assistance of a Library volunteer, managed to clean the machine, replace a part, and maintain it to working order again; however, age and use have begun to take a toll on its operation. A new coin-op and copy machine were budgeted for 2006. Thus, updated price quotes were solicited for replacement of both the photocopier and the coin-op.
