Dear Georgetown Township Board:

The following activities were successfully completed at the Georgetown Township Senior Center during the month of March, 2006:

Education and Health:

·        Blood Pressure Screen with Judy Boven, R.N. from Oak Crest Manors - 37 participants

·        Trim Class for weight management – 96 participants

·        Exercise Class with Fitness Instructor Cathy Walker – 130 participants

·        Swim Demonstration at Sunset Manor – 10 participants

·        BCBS Medicare Part D One-on-One Sign Up – 4 participants

·        Tax Preparation – 62 participants

 

Nutritional Services:

·        Total meals provided for Georgetown Township Seniors – 439 at center, 217 home delivered

·        Commodities – 47 recipients

·        Transportation to Meijer for grocery shopping – 36 participants

 

Trips:

·        Bach Lunch – 9 participants

·        “The Servant of Two Masters” at GVSU Theatre – 13 participants

·        Lunch Bunch to Magic Wok –  20 participants

·        Grand Rapids Griffins game – 6 participants

·        Grandville Rotary Travelogue – 8 participants

·        Pianist Alex Zsolt at Fellowship Reformed Church - 11 participants

·        Mid-day Music at Park Church - 11 participants

·        Movie Matinee at Cinemark - 5 participants

·        Shrine Circus – 8 participants

 

Spiritual Services:

·        Bible Study: Finishing lessons on the book of Ruth, beginning lessons on Joshua, led by different local Pastors each week – 190 participants

Special Events:

·        Monthly Potluck - 30 participants

·        Breakfast Bingo – 25 participants

·        St. Patty’s Party – 67 participants

 

Social and Recreational:

·        Watercolor Class - 84 participants

·        Computer Class – 21 participants

·        Quilting – 12 participants

·        Cards - 37 participants

·        Pool Players – 88 participants

·        Table Tennis Players – 8 participants

·        BUNCO Players – 24 participants

·        Therapeutic Recreation Group – 70 participants

·        Craft Class – 4 participants

 

I participated in the following meetings during the month of March:

·        Jeff Kreiser, Hoekstra Transportation

·        Julie Bildner, Harbor Transit

 

Georgetown Township Transportation – Ottawa County Specialized Services:

·        Total rides provided in March – 1,451

 

Total units of service provided by the Georgetown Senior Center program:  3,002

                                                           

We are looking forward to the fun events planned in April, including our annual ice cream social with the Grand Rapids Symphonette and our “Spotlight on Seniors” health expo at Kentwood Senior Center.  Thank you for your support.
