2006 APRIL REPORT
DPW DEPARTMENT
- The new GT9 Meter/Booster Station is well on its
way. The underground piping is
complete and the foundation and walls are up. The roof should be on the week of May
1-5th.
- The new 2006 Water/Sewer Truck is now is service.
- A Water/Sewer Truck was damaged in an auto
accident. The driver was not
injured and it was not the fault of the driver. Had the driver not used preventative
measures he might have been seriously injured.
- The GT2 meter is still out for maintenance. Due to the cost of repair and
recalibration, it appears a new meter will be installed.
- The first draft of the Water Distribution System
is now in our hands and looks excellent with a few changes to be made.
- The dead-end and interconnect flushing program
has been completed and the fire department is now in the process of doing
the cul-de-sac flushing program.
- The sewer ordinance is being updated to include a
revised grease trap section to allow further enforcement of this program.
- The possibility of changing the communication
lines for the Water Meter Stations from ISDN lines to radio lines is being
investigated. This could save a
good deal of money in the long run if it works out.
- The two water tanks have been inspected and look
in very good shape. It was
recommended they be reinspected in five years.
- GT 8 Tank farm has had additional paving done to
the drive area to prevent driving on the grass.
- The annual valve exercise program is progressing
well. No significant problems are
being found.
- We used approximately 750,000 gallons of water
for the Wallinwood Golf Course fire on April 27, 2006.
118 new homes under construction
24 new meters installed
16 new sewer connections
56 final readings of water meters for home sales
