July 2006

Staffing

·         Interviews for the open Library Page positions were conducted.

·         Lauren VanderKlok joined the staff as a Library Page.

 

Facility

·         Roof leaks throughout the building continued to be a problem. New areas experienced substantial leaks with damage sustained to Library materials as a result. Consequently, specific shelving areas are now covered with plastic sheeting at all times to protect materials.

 

 Professional Development & Meetings

·         Meetings and workshops attended by professional staff included:

o        Monthly Library Supervisors Meeting

o        Monthly Staff Meeting for Librarians, Circulation Coordinators, Library Assistants & Materials Processors

o        Monthly Staff Meeting for Library Pages – Mary Reed & Pamela Myers

o        Lakeland Library Cooperative Continuing Education Committee – Pamela Myers & Mary Reed

·         July 21:  Final Registration for the Summer Reading Program for Adults (Program runs through August 05)

o        Final registration count:  110 adults

·         Attendance:  0 (Cancelled due to lack of registration)

o        July 18:  Decorate Your Jeans Craft Program (Ages 12 - 17)

o        July 19:  Paws With A Cause Program (Ages 6 & older)

o        June 21:  Story Time (Ages 5 & younger)

o        July 26:  Acting Up Theatre Group (Ages 6 & older)

·         Promotional materials and displays for the Summer Reading Program for Youth contests and programs – Jill Reyers, Sue Kirvan & Sherry Jordon

·         Lobby table display of staff favorites – Mary Reed (with suggestions from Library Staff)

·         Weeding of Adult Nonfiction Biographies – Susan Carlson

·         Clean-Up of incomplete and expired patron accounts in the Patron Registration Database – Pamela Myers

·         Reports prepared for the Juvenile and Young Adult audio-visual material re-cataloging project – Pamela Myers

·         Rework of collection codes, I-codes, I-types, cataloging and call number standards, etc.  – Pamela Myers

Friends of the Library

·         No meeting is held during the month of July.

·         The officers and Joan Korzilius provided final purchase approval for the replacement shelving for Book Sale storage. The order was placed during the month, with shipment expected by late July or early August.

·         The Summer Used Book Sale was held July 27 – July 29. Details regarding revenues will be available at the September Friends Meeting.
