SERVICES COMMITTEE MINUTES

AUGUST 21, 2006.

 

 

1.          Call to order by Chair R. J. Poel at 7:30 AM

 

2.          Roll Call, Del South, Rich VanderKlok, R. J Poel

 

3.          Moved by South Supported by VanderKlok to approve the minutes of July 17, 2006.   Carried

 

4.          Moved by South second by VanderKlok to To have the Clerk Contact The Ottawa County Health Dept to provide in writing the ECoil issue at Maplewood Park.  Possible solution to reduce the Park closing issue, due to contamination. Carried.

 

5.          Authorize the Clerk to seek Sealed bids for a new 2007 Pick-up 4x4 for the Parks Dept.  Trade in a 2002 Dodge 4x4 PU. Carrtied

 

6.          Moved by South second by VanderKlok to increase the fares for Senior Transportation at the Center as follows,  Fare increase from $4.50 to $5.00.  Bus rental with Driver $11.00 per hour.  $.45 cents per mile,  $6.00 per rider.  Trip to Meijers from the Center $1.50 to $2.00.  P/U at Center from $1.25  to $1.75, Kandu  One Way from $5.00 to $5.50 Carried.

 

7.          Motion by VanderKlok second by South to seek Sealed Bids for Mowing and Fertilizing for the Years 2007 to 2010. Carried.

 

8.          Motion by South second by VanderKlok to accept the low Bid from Raymer Well Drilling for a new well at Rosewood Park in the amount of $5360.00. Carried. Other Bid was Buer Well Drilling $5850.00.

 

9.          Motion by South second by VanderKlok to authorize the installation of 4 cement pads at Rosewood Park, Supervisor responsible to get bids, Carried

 

10.      Request from Hudsonville Public School to provide crossing guards at the new school on Baldwin between 36th and 40th.  Committee recommends. Motion by VanderKlok second by South to provide crossing guard at 36th and 40th  ave. or other option is to provide $5000.00 to Hudsonville Public School to allow them to have there own crossing program.  Carried.  Note; There request is to have the crossing between 36th and 40th ave, (no intersection) where speed limit is 55 mph and is not being recommended by the committee.  This will put the students at high risk and liability will be a large issue with the insurance company where traffic (vehicles) will not be  looking for crossing guards in a 55 mph zone. 

 

11.      Request for Off leash Dog Park.  The Committee recommends.  Motion by South second by VanderKlok  that the Off leash Dog Park Committee use the property recommended by the Ottawa Parks and Recreation Commisssion for dogs at the Timmer Farm on Fillmore at the  bend, in Georgetown Township. This is one of six Open Space Lands recommended for dogs on  or off leash.  Carried.             Note, This decision  came after weeks of gathering information from other Townships and Cities regarding parks for Dogs. Items that were brought forward were Location, Areas where open water is available but not suggested for animals because of the E-Coli issue. Maintenance, Monitoring of posted rules, proper lighting, parking in already heavy traffic areas. Clean up of waste.
