The Lakeland Library Cooperative Advisory Council and Board met during the month. Again, discussions centered on the potential cut to State Aid to public libraries and cooperatives by the State of Michigan, as well as various costing scenarios for Lakeland Library Cooperative inter-library delivery. The need to reduce not only delivery volume but also the number of delivery stops and associated costs was explored. Consequently, in an effort to reduce delivery volume, the Cooperative Board voted to limit to 10 (reduced from 25) the number of holds per library cardholder currently permitted to place holds. An effective date of August 01, 2007 was established for implementation of the new limit.
The Cooperative as whole set a new record in June with 1,156,713 items circulated. This figure surpasses the previous record set in July 2006 by 110,623 items.
