GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING PROCEDURES

 

1.         ELECTION OF OFFICERS

 

The ZBA shall elect officers (chairman, vice chairman and secretary) annually or as often as necessary.

 

2.         MEETING ORDER IS AS FOLLOWS:

 

A.        CALL TO ORDER

 

The chairman will call the meeting to order with the following announcement:

 

“This is a meeting of the Georgetown Township Zoning Board of Appeals.  Tonight we will be taking action on the agenda items.  In addition to a public hearing, public comments will be allowed tonight.  Before asking questions or making comments, please stand, state your name and address, and direct all comments to the Chair.  Once the public hearing is closed or the floor is closed to public comments, comments from the public will not be allowed.”

 

B.         INTRODUCTIONS

           

The chairman will introduce the Board and secretary and zoning administrator with the following verbiage:

 

“Tonight we have with us: XXXX, our secretary and Zoning Administrator and the members of the Zoning Board of Appeals.”

 

C.        MEETING ORDER:

            The meeting will be run as follows:

1.      The Applicant will give their presentation.

2.      Zoning Administrator will respond to the request.

3.      Zoning Board of Appeals members will be able to question the applicant.

4.      Meeting is open for either public comments or questions or the public hearing would be opened.

5.      Public hearing will be closed or the floor will be closed to public comments.

6.      Applicant is given time for rebuttal.

7.      Zoning Administrator will give any necessary information.

8.      In the final step, the Zoning Board of Appeals will act upon the Proposal.

 

3.         OATH

 

The chairman, or any ZBA member, may call for any applicant or witness to take an oath.  In which case, a motion shall be made, seconded and approved to require a person to take an oath.

 

The oath shall be administered by the chairman and shall consist of the following verbiage:

 

“Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?”

 

4.         INFORMATION PRESENTED

 

Any information presented to the Zoning Board of Appeals must be submitted in written format to the Board either prior to the meeting or during the meeting (at the chairman’s discretion.  If information is provided in a format other than written, the ZBA may adjourn discussion of the application until such time as the material is submitted in writing.  If the information is presented in a media other than written, the ZBA may adjourn discussion of the topic until such time as a copy of the information (such as a video tape) is submitted to the ZBA.
